Juan Williams Fired From NPR

This is a pretty controversial issue that has occurred. Recently the NPR commentator was fired for a remark he made toward muslims while appearing on Fox News. Williams said that when he boards a plane and sees a person in traditional Muslim garb that it makes him nervous. A personal comment on the way he feels. Williams, also employed by Fox, is known for bringing his liberal insight to Fox News debates and giving a more diverse caste. Below I have posted the a video clip of the conversation and remark. The are a few issues that rise from this situation. Firstly, is the firing of Williams a violation of free speech and what are the professional consequences of speaking your mind and opinion? Secondly, did he violate NPR's code of ethics, which is the reason they claim for firing him? Thirdly, no one really brought the issue to public concern until NPR fired him. So was this really that controversial of an issue or was NPR just looking for a reason to complete the deed? Lastly, after this occurrence Williams signed a 2 year, 2 million contract with Fox to be an on air expert. I also posted a couple articles, one from our very own Denver Post, concerning the issue to give you guys more information. I would to hear feed back from people on what they about this.
