Indonesian Islamists Fear 'Christianization'

Whoah sorry to post again back to back, but I just found this:

It's the flip side of our Ground Zero mosque controversy! Interesting that I haven't read about this anywhere else...? Maybe I'm just behind the times, but it seems interesting there haven't been mass Christian protests or shows of solidarity yet. We'll see how this develops...

  1. I have not heard this side of the story either, but nonetheless I wish people would be more considerate when they have particular problems with certain religions. A lot of people have stereotyped the Islamic religion because of terrorism, but before we judge the entire religion we should find out the true story. Later in the article we discover that not all Muslims agreed with the F.P.I.'s approach to the apparent "Christianization" of Indonesia. We must consider smaller divisions and sects within Islam or Christianity (or any religion) that also influnece the reputation of the entire religion. This does not mean that people have to agree with certain relgions and their beliefs, but we should be concerned with how we are treating people. Therefore, "religious tolerance" may not be the best approach to deal with conflicting religions. It does not suggest that we should respect and honestly try to understand other's beliefs or even as people in general. I purposely did not address whether it was right or wrong for the Muslims to discourage the church built in Indonesia because the deeper issue lies within religious discrimination and hate.
